Description

The PCT50SF is a CAT5E networking cable specifically designed for the growing number of digital applications in the professional AV industry. Unlike any other CAT5E cable available on the market, the PCT50SF features Duraflex™ outer jacket constructed using a double-extrusion technique with a polyurethane outer and PVC inner jacket. The polyurethane outer jacket offers an excellent resistance against mechanical wear due to pulling, bending, cracking and UV exposure, while the PVC inner jacket keeps it easy to handle. The conductor section consists of 4 pairs with stranded 24 AWG conductors which guarantees an optimal signal transmission while the double shielding consisting of an overall aluminum foil surrounded by a braiding offers a high immunity to noise and interference caused by external devices. Supports 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T gigabit networks.

Technology

Cable properties

Meter indicator

For ease of installation these bulk cables are provided with an indication on every meter of the cable. This enables installers to have a clear and efficient indication of how many meters they still have available on their reel.

Bi-jacketed

The combination of a hard and solid inner jacket and a soft outer jacket provides great flexibility with a solid touch, even after numerous times of winding and unwinding.

PUR

When flexibility, abrasion and oil resistance have to be guaranteed, PUR cables are an excellent choice. PUR is known for being Halogen free, not containing chlorine, iodine, fluorine, bromine or astatine.  This jacket type does however have a limited temperature range compared to the other jacket types, -40…80⁰C.

Duraflex™

The Duraflex™ technology is based on the highest grade of materials for its outer jacket to withstand extreme circumstances and mechanic impact. This gives the cable the advantage to keep his flexibility in low temperatures and an overall better abrasion resistance. The UV protection makes sure that the cable maintains its mechanical properties and doesn’t turn brittle after long-term exposures.

CAT5E

CAT5E can handle a gigabit Ethernet network (1000Mbps at 100Mhz) and is designed to reduce crosstalk better that CAT5.

100 Ohm

The 100Ω cables are ideal for the transmission of digital signals. This impedance is mostly used in our wide range of UTP cables.

Stranded copper

A stranded copper wire is more flexible and easier to install than a large single-strand wire with the same cross section. Stranding improves wire life in applications where flexibility is needed. A particular cross section of a stranded conductor gives it essentially the same resistance characteristics as a single-strand conductor, but with added flexibility.

Tinned copper braiding

Tinned copper braid shielding provides superior physical protection, while maintaining good flexibility and flex life. These shields are the ideal choice for minimizing interference and have lower dc resistance than foil. The tin plating also adds to the copper in the cable as it not only helps to boost the copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation.

Aluminum Foil

Aluminum foil shielding is ideal for reflecting electromagnetic interference (EMI) and is often used in combination with a braided wire to absorb EMI.

IEC60332

The outer jacket of all PROCAB cables complying to IEC60332 will extinguish itself when that cable is briefly exposed to a small flame.
