Description

The SVGA60HF is a high-end video cable for all high resolution video interconnects. It contains 5 shielded coax cables, all with 7-strand silver plated copper conductors, foamed polyethylene dielectric and braided tin plated copper shielding. This cable also has a global dual shield consisting of an Aluminium foil and a tin plated copper braided shield for perfect shielding. The coax cables feature a high velocity of propagation and minimal return loss to ensure quality signal delivery on lengthy connections. Additionally, five 11-strand bare copper lead wires are included to carry control signals. The outer jacket of this cable is made of Polyolefin.

Technology

Cable properties

Tinned copper drain wire

The drain wire is a part of a shield within a cable that reduces the resistance from any point on the shield to ground. A drain wire carries extraneous electrical noise to ground and away from the circuit or system. The tin plating also adds to the copper in the cable as it not only helps to boost the copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation.

75 Ohm

Coax cables with a 75Ω impedance are highly suitable for transmitting video signals. The cables have an advantage in flexibility and low loss characteristics.

LSHF

LSHF stands for Low Smoke, Halogen Free. This term refers to Halogen free flame retardant thermoplastic material used as a sheathing compound in cables. In the event of a fire or when exposed to high levels of heat, the chemicals in the jacket removes heat from the flame, whilst the reaction produces water as a by-product to help quench the flame.  As a result, the cable will emit very low levels of smoke, and non-toxic levels of poisonous halogen gasses.

Stranded copper

A stranded copper wire is more flexible and easier to install than a large single-strand wire with the same cross section. Stranding improves wire life in applications where flexibility is needed. A particular cross section of a stranded conductor gives it essentially the same resistance characteristics as a single-strand conductor, but with added flexibility.

Stranded silver-plated copper

Silver-plated copper combines high corrosion resistance and better conductivity with a bright and shiny surface of silver. The better conductivity of the outer silver layer makes this type of cable the perfect choice for high frequency wires.

Tinned copper braiding

Tinned copper braid shielding provides superior physical protection, while maintaining good flexibility and flex life. These shields are the ideal choice for minimizing interference and have lower dc resistance than foil. The tin plating also adds to the copper in the cable as it not only helps to boost the copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation.

Aluminum Foil

Aluminum foil shielding is ideal for reflecting electromagnetic interference (EMI) and is often used in combination with a braided wire to absorb EMI.

Tinned copper spiral

Tinned copper spiral is even more flexible than a braided shielding. This type of shield is constructed by wrapping the shield material in one direction around the conductors. Spiral shields are most effective in the use of cable where audio signals are transmitted. The tin plating also adds to the copper in the cable as it not only helps to boost the copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation.

Solid tinned copper

Tin is a useful plating for copper because it not only helps to boost copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation. Tin also helps to strengthen the copper wire, making it more resilient to breakage or lost connections, at the same time boosting the coppers conductivity.
