Description

The BMC224-Eca is a balanced microphone cable composed of two 24 AWG stranded oxygen-free copper conductors, surrounded by Al-Mylar shielding and a drain wire. Its smooth and durable PVC outer jacket makes it suitable for a wide range of fixed installation applications, including rack cabling and pulling through tubes or ducts.

The thin and dense stranded conductor construction ensures reliable signal transmission, while the effective shielding provides strong protection against noise and interference from external devices. For added installer convenience, the cable features meter indication marking, making cable management and length measurement easier during installation.

Now rated with a CPR Euroclass Eca classification, the BLS Series meets basic fire safety requirements for fixed installations. Always consult local regulations to confirm where Eca class cables are permitted.

Technology

Cable properties

Stranded copper

A stranded copper wire is more flexible and easier to install than a large single-strand wire with the same cross section. Stranding improves wire life in applications where flexibility is needed. A particular cross section of a stranded conductor gives it essentially the same resistance characteristics as a single-strand conductor, but with added flexibility.

Aluminum Foil

Aluminum foil shielding is ideal for reflecting electromagnetic interference (EMI) and is often used in combination with a braided wire to absorb EMI.

Tinned copper drain wire

The drain wire is a part of a shield within a cable that reduces the resistance from any point on the shield to ground. A drain wire carries extraneous electrical noise to ground and away from the circuit or system. The tin plating also adds to the copper in the cable as it not only helps to boost the copper’s properties, it also helps the wire to last much longer and counter acts against oxidation.
