The MCM audio multipair cable is an extremely flexible and rugged type of cable, suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. Each audio pair consists of two insulated and twisted conductors of 0.125 mm² with a high density shielding to prevent any influence of hum, noise or electromagnetic fields from external equipment. Bare copper spiral is even more flexible than a braided shielding. This type of shield is constructed by wrapping the shield material in one direction around the conductors. Spiral shields are most effective in the use of cable where audio signals are transmitted.
A stranded copper wire is more flexible and easier to install than a large single-strand wire with the same cross section. Stranding improves wire life in applications where flexibility is needed.
